BRANDON – Through fundraising, sponsors and grants, the Buchanan County Emergency Medical Services Association (BCEMSA) acquired about two dozen automated external defibrillators (AEDs) last year as part of their Defibrillation Program.

Their goal was to equip law enforcement and other public entities with an AED. When that was achieved, they started looking at other non-profit community groups that could benefit from having a life-saving device near at-hand.

In May the BCEMSA presented the Brandon Area Community Club with a device.

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about CPR, AEDs or volunteer opportunities; please contact a local EMS provider through your city hall. Anyone interested in contributing to this fundraising effort can make a donation by mail or person to BankIowa in Independence.
