INDEPENDENCE – In addition to several great produce, meat, and handcraft vendors, the May 25 Farmer’s Market featured Hager’s Roasting Company and Buchanan County Women, Land & Legacy.
Teri Hager and her daughter Sam were making fresh coffee to order and selling cold teas as well. Shoppers were able to have samples and purchase 5 pound bags of their favorite bean. Teri and Sam both favor a darker coffee.
Next to the Hager booth were members of the local Women, Land & Legacy group. Formed last November, the group acts as a resource and social group for women in agriculture. For more information visit their Facebook site or contact Ashley Sherrets of ISU Extension and Outreach at 319-334-7161.
Thanks to sponsorship from LACES, the Independence Farmer’s Market will welcome live music from The Great Bluegrass Herons from 9 a.m. to Noon this Saturday. The Kalona area based two-couple band play gospel and bluegrass music. The market will feature other musicians on the second Saturdays of upcoming months.
