Wapsie Valley crushes Postville

Sophomore Kobe Risse had two hits, a walk, two runs, three RBIs and a stolen base in Wednesday’s win against Postville.

FAIRBANK – The Wapsie Valley varsity baseball team defeated Postville 18-3 on Wednesday in a convincing win.

Wapsie Valley scored 14 runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead and never looked back as Postville was only able to score three runs in the third inning. The game ended after four innings.

The Warriors combined for 13 hits, six walks, 18 runs and four stolen bases. Center fielder Connor Franzen had three hits, a walk, two runs, a double, a triple, four RBIs and a stolen base. Third baseman Ethan Oltrogge had two hits, a walk, two runs, two RBIs and a stolen base. Catcher Jordan Rubner had two hits, a walk, three runs, three RBIs and a stolen base. Third baseman Kobe Risse had two hits, a walk, two runs, three RBIs and a stolen base.

Freshman pitcher Brody Blaylock (2-0) started the game for the Warriors and went four innings with four strikeouts; while allowing five hits, no walks and no earned runs. Three of his runs were unearned.

Wapsie Valley is 10-7 after Wednesday’s win against Postville.
