Transformative Journalism Academy's cub reporter Gretchen Ellerbroek, a Waverly-Shell Rock, Iowa student, tells the story of living on her grandparents’ farm during Covid-19 quarantine. Her mother is a frontline nurse and in order to protect Gretchen, she was sent to the farm.

Covid closed schools and many aspiring teens like Gretchen are itching for creative challenges.

The TJA presented Gretchen with an opportunity to learn new skills while documenting how the coronavirus has changed the world around us.

In addition to being a great daughter, and a grandkid, Gretchen has the heart and the nose of a reporter. She is determined, enterprising and a fast learner.

This is her first published video story. Expect more, and also, read her story in this week’s edition of Waverly Newspapers.
