INDEPENDENCE – Heartland Acres Executive Director, Craig Johnson, announced  he would be seeking election to the Iowa House in District 64, which includes portions of Fayette and Buchanan Counties.

Johnson was born and raised in Independence. During his youth he worked for his father’s paint contracting business. Johnson graduated from Independence Jefferson Senior High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in Industry from the University of Northern Iowa. After working as a sales and engineer manager for many years Johnson gained credentials to join a financial planning practice. In 2010, after serving as a volunteer, he became executive director for Heartland Acres

Now Johnson says he is looking for another way to serve his community.
