Wednesday, June 19

At 2:43p.m., Clayton County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the Highway 18 on ramp in Marquette for a traffic violation and came into contact with Mitchell Kubik, 31, of Iowa City. Deputies observed illegal narcotics in the vehicle and located, marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Kubik was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Thursday, June 20

Deputies took custody of Christopher Curtis, 40, of Aurora from the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office for a Clayton County warrant for second-degree theft. Curtis was transported to the Clayton County Jail.

Friday, June 21

Deputies took custody of Wesley Wood, 59, of Sumner, from the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office for a Clayton County warrant for second-degree theft. Wood was transported to the Clayton County Jail.

At 6:39 a.m., deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident on East Mission Road near Dogwood Ave. Tyler Ingles of Elkport was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado when he lost control. His vehicle entered the ditch and overturned causing $4,000 damage. Ingles was cited for failure to maintain control. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Strawberry Point Fire and Strawberry Point Ambulance.

Saturday, June 22

At 10:22 p.m., deputies responded to a car vs. cow collision on Highway 18 near 135th Street. Michael Rubendall of Monona was operating a 2016 Ford Escape when he struck a cow causing $5,000 damage. Deputies also determined that a second vehicle, a 2000 Ford Mustang operated by Andrew Kleitsch of Monona has also struck the cow causing $6,000 damage. No injuries were reported. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Monona Police Department, Monona Ambulance, MarMac Ambulance, and the Farmersburg First Responders.

Monday, June 24

At 7:12 p.m., deputies responded to a car vs. deer accident on Highway 56 near Basswood Ave. Kraig Allison of Elkader was operating a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan when he struck a deer causing $2,500 damage. No injuries were reported.

Tuesday, June 25

At 1:53 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Highway 13 near 175th Street. Deputies came into contact with David Sealy, 53, of Cedar Rapids, and determined that his driving privileges were suspended. Deputies also located a loaded syringe containing methamphetamines. Sealy was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with speeding, no insurance, fraudulent use of registration, possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wednesday, June 26

At 10:45 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on Main Street in McGregor. Deputies came into contact with Joseph Rosacker, 24, of Guttenberg. He was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with operating while intoxicated 1st offense, and unsafe backing onto a highway.

Thursday, June 27

At 9:12 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 13 and Bridge Street. Rosalie Stickler of Monona was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox when she turned onto Bridge Street, lost control and struck a mail delivery truck operated by Jaclyn Lessard of Volga causing $12,000 to her Equinox. The mail truck sustained $4,000 damage. Stickler was transported to Mercy One Elkader for treatment of minor injuries. Stickler was cited for failure to maintain control.

Friday, June 28

Deputies arrested Dustin Millard, 47, of Strawberry Point, on a Clayton County warrant for failure to appear. Millard was transported to the Clayton County Jail.

Saturday, June 29

At 5:27p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on West Mission Street and came into contact with Larry Herman, 59, of Manchester. Deputies observed signs of impairment and conducted field sobriety testing. The Clayton County K9 was deployed and the canine Raven indicated to a presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. A drug recognition expert with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office determined that Herman was under the influence of illegal narcotics. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle where deputies located, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Herman was arrest and charged with possession of a controlled substance third offense-methampetamine (class D felony), possession of a controlled substance-marijuana (class D felony), operating while intoxicated-drugged first offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Strawberry Point Police Department.

On June 30

At 5:18 p.m., deputies responded to a one vehicle rollover on Skip Level Road. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Richard Miller of Colesburg was operating a 1982 American Motors CJ7 when he lost control. His vehicle entered the ditch and overturned causing $2,500 damage. The Guttenberg Police Department assisted at the scene.

Tuesday, July 2

At 6:01 a.m., deputies responded to a hit and run accident on South Page Street in Monona. Deputies determined that a Maroon 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was struck by an unknown vehicle. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office or the Monona Police Department.

Deputies arrested Shantel Cochran, 36, of Strawberry Point on a Black Hawk County warrant for probation violation. Cockran was transported to the Clayton County Jail and later released to the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office.
