DENVER – The North Fayette Valley varsity baseball team lost to Denver 16-6 in a six-inning game on the road Thursday.

Denver took a big early lead by scoring five runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning. The TigerHawks scored three runs in the top of the third inning, but the Cyclones regained their 11-run lead by scoring three runs in the bottom half of the third.

North Fayette Valley was able to score two runs in the fourth inning and one run in the fifth inning. However, Denver scored a run in the fifth inning and a run in the sixth inning, which ended the game with a Cyclones 16-6 win.

NFV sophomore pitcher Isaiah Corbin (2-2) started the game but was unable to record any outs. He allowed two hits, three walks and five earned runs.

Freshman pitcher Levi Danker pitched four innings of relief with one strikeout; while allowing three hits, eight walks and four earned runs. Cole Everitt pitched an inning of relief with no strikeouts; while allowing three hits, a walk and six earned runs. Nolan Hoey pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief and was charged with one earned run.

The TigerHawks combined for 11 hits, five walks and six runs in Thursday’s contest. Shortstop Brooks Hovden had three hits, two runs and an RBI. Designated hitter Ty Stee had three hits, a walk and two RBIs. Center fielder Dylan Muggler had two hits and two runs.

North Fayette Valley is now 6-10 for the season after dropping their last two games. They played at home against North Linn on Friday and will head to Kee for a doubleheader on Monday.
