WATERLOO – The Sumner-Fredericksburg varsity softball team lost both ends of their road doubleheader against Columbus Catholic on Monday.

Sumner-Fredericksburg was shutout in both games, losing the first game 8-0 and the second game 3-0.

Cougars sophomore Chantelle Nuss (3-6) started the first game and went six innings with three strikeouts; while allowing eight hits, three walks and six earned runs. Two of her runs were unearned.

S-F combined for six hits, no walks and no runs. Second baseman Tiffany Beyer and shortstop Abby Meyer each had two hits in the contest.

Meyer (0-1) started the second game for the Cougars and went six innings with one strikeout; while allowing six hits, six walks and two earned runs. One of her runs was unearned.

The Cougars combined for one hit, one walk and no runs. Meyer had the only hit for Sumner-Fredericksburg.

Sumner-Fredericksburg is now 7-8 after Monday’s losses. They play next on the road against South Winneshiek on Thursday.
