FAIRBANK – The Jesup varsity softball team defeated Wapsie Valley in both ends of their road doubleheader on Monday.

Jesup won the first game 12-1 and the second game 9-1.

The J-Hawks combined for 14 hits, five walks and 12 runs in the first game. First baseman Kristin Sadler had three hits, three runs scored and two doubles. Third baseman Jenna Jensen had two hits, one run scored, a double, a home run and four RBIs.

Junior Zoe Miller (4-1) started the first game for Jesup and went a full seven innings with four strikeouts; while allowing four hits, a walk and no runs.

The Warriors combined for four hits, a walk and one run in the first game. Pitcher Ellie Neil had two hits in the contest.

Neil (2-5) started the first game and went 4.2 innings with no strikeouts; while allowing 10 hits, three walks and six earned runs. Kaci Beesecker came in and pitched 2.1 innings in relief with one strikeout; while allowing four hits, two walks and four earned runs.

In the second game, Jesup combined for nine hits, one walk and nine runs. Miller had two hits, a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases in the contest.

Senior Rhianna Bigwood (7-2) started the second game for the J-Hawks and went seven innings with four strikeouts; while allowing six hits, two walks and one earned run.

Wapsie Valley combined for six hits, two walks and one run scored in the second game. Center fielder Sydnei Martin had two hits, one run scored and two stolen bases in the contest.

Beesecker (2-1) started the second game for the Warriors and went four innings with one strikeout; while allowing eight hits, a walk and four earned runs. Neil and Sydney Matthias both pitched in relief for Wapsie Valley.

Jesup is 12-4 and Wapsie Valley is 6-9 after Monday’s doubleheader.
