WEST UNION – The North Fayette Valley varsity softball team swept West Central in both ends of their home doubleheader on Monday.

NFV won the first game 12-3 and the second game 12-11.

In the first game, the TigerHawks combined for 12 hits, five walks, 12 runs and four stolen bases. Third baseman Julie Mackey had three hits, a run scored, a double and three RBIs. Center fielder Makenna Koch had two hits, a walk, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.

NFV sophomore Kennedy Lape (6-2) started the first game and went seven innings with five strikeouts; while allowing seven hits, two walks and one earned run.

In the second game, NFV combined for eight hits, 11 walks, 12 runs and one stolen base. First baseman Taylor Ellis had two hits, two walks, three runs scored, and an RBI. Designated hitter Natasha Guenther had two hits, a run scored and two RBIs.

Eighth-grader Reagan Wymer started the second game for NFV and went 2.1 innings with two strikeouts; while allowing six hits, a walk and five earned runs. Five of her runs were unearned. Lape (6-2) came in and pitched 4.2 innings of relief to earn the win; while striking out five batters and only allowing one earned run.

West Central is 1-17 and North Fayette Valley is 9-6 after Monday’s doubleheader.
