Coloring contest, crafts, Santa visit

NEWHALL – With the Thanksgiving turkey stuffed away in the bellies, attention now turns to the Christmas season. Already plans are taking shape for a festive holiday season.

The Newhall Public Library gas some special events planned and Santa Claus will be making a visit.

Today, a Christmas Coloring Contest began at the library. It is open to people of all ages.

Want to prove your coloring skills? Drop by the library, pick up a picture and take it home. Bring it back by Dec. 21. A winner will selected on Dec. 22.

A Christmas Craft Night on Dec. 20 from 3:30 to 6 p.m. It is for children of all ages, but those eight years old and younger should be accompanied by a responsible older companion. Snacks will be provided. Please RSVP via Facebook, e-mail (, or call the Library at 319-223-5510.

And, of course, there will be a pre-Christmas visit to Newhall by Santa Claus.

The jolly ol’ elf will be at the Main Park Pavilion from 5 to 7 p.m. , on Dec. 6.

Lions Club members will be handing out goodie bags and serving warm drinks and treats.
