Taylor's Hair

Taylor Wheeler, a Vinton-Shellsburg graduate and a sophomore at the University of Iowa, will have a different hairstyle after Saturday night after she participates in the For The Kids Dance Marathon. Wheeler pledged to donate her hair for wigs for sick children if she raised at least $450. She raised almost $2,000 but hoped to reach her goal.

CEDAR FALLS – Taylor Wheeler thought about new hairstyles on Friday afternoon. She had to since her long blond locks would be cut off the next evening.

Wheeler, a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa, is participating in the school’s For the Kids Dance Marathon.

Wheeler needed to raise $200 to qualify for the marathon. She added a little extra incentive, pledging to cut her hair to donate for children who need wigs because of a medical condition. She raised the $450 so she will take the stage Saturday night for a time.

As of noon Friday, Wheeler needed another $50 to reach the $2,000 level for her donation.Her mother, Sharon, will bring cash that has been donated with her Saturday so there’s a chance she can still break $2,000.
