CEDAR FALLS – Taylor Wheeler thought about new hairstyles on Friday afternoon. She had to since her long blond locks would be cut off the next evening.
Wheeler, a sophomore at the University of Northern Iowa, is participating in the school’s For the Kids Dance Marathon.
Wheeler needed to raise $200 to qualify for the marathon. She added a little extra incentive, pledging to cut her hair to donate for children who need wigs because of a medical condition. She raised the $450 so she will take the stage Saturday night for a time.
As of noon Friday, Wheeler needed another $50 to reach the $2,000 level for her donation. Her mother, Sharon, will bring cash that has been donated with her Saturday so there’s a chance she can still break $2,000.
