WAVERLY – Nashua-Plainfield sophomore Garret Rinken placed first in the 113-pound division at the 54th annual Tripoli Invitational on Saturday.

Rinken, who is ranked No. 3 in Class 1A (The Predicament) pinned Sumner-Fredericksburg’s Cael Judisch in 1 minute, 24 seconds in the semifinal round before earning a 5-1 decision over Wapsie Valley’s Dawson Schmit, who is ranked No. 4 in Class 1A, in the first-place match.

N-P finished third in the team standings with 140 points.

Sophomore 106-pounder Kendrick Huck placed second, along with junior 132-pounder Trey Nelson and junior 152-pounder McKade Munn. Senior Derik Downing finished third at 195.

Denver senior 138-pounder Isaac Schimmels placed first in his division after posting three falls. Junior 120-pounder Joe Ebaugh, who is ranked No. 4, placed second. Seniors Ben Foelske (152), Cole Miller (160) and Brennen Graber (182) each placed third.

The Cyclones finished fourth as a team with 134 points.

Sumner-Fredericksburg placed fifth in the team race with 107 points. Seniors Judisch (113), Trace Meyer (106), junior Nate Egan (132) and freshmen Jesse Jones (145) and Kyle Kuhlmann (195) finished fourth.

Wapsie Valley freshman Easton Krall placed first at 106. Krall earned a 19-second fall in his quarterfinal match before notching a pair of one-point decisions. Schmit took second at 113.

The Warriors placed sixth as a team with 104 points.

Tripoli senior Ethan Schellhorn took third at 220, while Blake Brocka placed second at 195.

The Panthers finished 11th as a team with 45 points.

Huskies win 2 of 3 duals

WAVERLY – Nashua-Plainfield won two of three duals Thursday.

N-P defeated Belmond-Klemme 60-24 and Saint Ansgar 58-18 and lost to No. 2-ranked Class 2A (The Predicament) Osage 52-20.

The Huskies posted six falls against Belmond-Klemme, including McKade Munn (145 pounds) and Derik Downing (195), who pinned their respective opponents in the first minute.

N-P recorded five falls against Saint Ansgar. McKade Munn and Hayden Munn (120) earned first-period falls, as well as Downing and Trey Nelson (132).

Nelson earned a 6-4 decision over Osage’s Averee Abben, while Kendrick Huck (106) and Kaden Wilken (126) registered falls.

WAVERLY – Denver won a pair of duals Thursday over BCLUW-SH (71-9) and Wapsie Valley (51-27).

Denver 138-pounder Isaac Schimmels, who is ranked No. 3 in Class 1A, pinned BCLUW-SH’s Walker Ashton in 50 seconds. Alex Krabbenhoft (145 pounds), Joe Ebaugh (126), Brennen Graber (182), Cade Bonnette (220), Rhett Bonnett (106), Josh Terrill (132) and Cooper South (170) also recorded falls for Denver.

Schimmels pinned Wapsie Valley’s Brady Benning in 1 minute, 1 second, while South pinned Sam Banger in 2:56. Beau Bonnette earned a 17-2 tech fall over Derek Hilsenbeck.

WAVERLY – Wapsie Valley split a pair of duals Thursday in Fairbank.

The Warriors beat BCLUW-SH 51-30 and lost to Denver 51-27.

Wapsie Valley 106-pounder Easton Krall pinned BCLUW’s Chance Cordes in 37 seconds, while 120-pounder Dawson Schmit earned a 5-3 decision over Carter Kolthoff. Brady Benning (138), Tyler Hirsch (145), Jordan Rubner (160), Sam Banger (170) and Keegon Brown (220) also picked up falls for Wapsie Valley.

Schmit pinned Denver’s Rhett Bonnett in 3 minutes, 19 seconds, while 132-pounder Austin Hesse pinned Evan Dorn in 2:46.

Cougars win 2 duals

WAVERLY – Sumner-Fredericksburg swept a pair of duals Thursday. S-F beat Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center 56-24 and Waterloo Columbus Catholic 42-41.

S-F’s Davis VanSickle (120 pounds), Owen Kime (160), Treyce Ensign (170), Grant Henderson (182) and Kyle Kuhlmann (195) posted falls against AP-GC.

Egan and Jesse Jones (145) recorded falls against Columbus.
