Apple harvest

CUNA Mutual employees, who helped with the harvesting of apples at the Waverly Community Orchard on Friday, were Melanie Peters, Kevin Hersom, Sarah Papenheim and Darren Westendorf.

While the Waverly Day of Caring went virtual this year, the Waverly Community Sharing Garden and Orchard benefitted with live help from CUNA employees in harvesting their apple crop. In the rain on Friday, Sept. 11, this group volunteered to help with the harvest.

The orchard is part of the effort by several area partners to address the food and nutritional needs of needy Iowans. Partners include: the City of Waverly, plus Bremer County ISU Extension and Master Gardeners.
