KatieJo Kuhens has resigned as the Wartburg College sports information director, as announced Friday. She has chosen to pursue another professional opportunity in the industry at Bethany Lutheran College.

Kuhens, a 2007 Wartburg graduate, has served as the SID for the last eight academic years. She has covered 10 NCAA championships, a multitude of All-Americans and conference champions, and 26 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans honors during this time. Wartburg set an NCAA record by winning two national titles on the same day in two different sports on March 10, 2012.

She is a co-creator of Wartburg’s premier livestreaming service, Knight Vision. Kuhens has served as the executive producer of Knight Vision Sports since its inception in fall 2013.

Kuhens was named the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). College Division Rising Star Award winner in April 2013 and was one of 10 American Volleyball Coaches Association Grant Burger Regional SID honorees in June 2015. Kuhens served as the media coordinator for the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which Wartburg hosted.

Kuhens is an active member of CoSIDA. She was named to the Board of Directors for a one-year term due to a vacancy (2017-18) and then to a full three-year term (2018-21).

A nationwide search for her replacement will occur this summer.
