An Iowa family who receives services through LSI.

Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI) was awarded $4,000 by the Waverly/Shell Rock United Way. The funding will support LSI’s Families Together program, an in-home parenting education resource for families in the Waverly area.

Families Together is a program in LSI’s Early Childhood Services, and it supports parents of children up to age 18, who experience barriers in raising a healthy family. Through regular in-home visits from an LSI Parent Educator, families receive the support and service they need to build their skills and confidence in parenting. Services are provided at no cost to Bremer County families.

“We are so grateful for this funding from the Waverly/Shell Rock United Way,” says Nancy Krause, LSI’s Director of Early Childhood Services. “Our top priority is always to empower and educate Iowa families, and this crucial work wouldn’t be possible without community support like this.”

LSI is one of Iowa’s largest human services agencies and impacts tens of thousands of Iowans annually through child abuse prevention, services for families and youth in crisis, services for people with disabilities, and refugee services. LSI is nationally accredited and proudly serves people of all ages, abilities, religions, sexes, gender identities, national origins, ethnicities, races, and sexual orientations.
