A Cedar Valley native has returned to his roots to assume the duties of assistant pastor at Open Bible Church in Waverly.

The Rev. Matt Miller, 37, started a few weeks ago after moving to town from Stephens City, Va., where he was the associate and student ministry pastor at Abundant Life Church. The leadership of Open Bible approached Miller with the chance to return close to where he grew up in Waterloo and Cedar Falls.

“The national office knew we were looking for a ministry opportunity,” Miller said. “They asked if we would be interested in the position of the associate pastor position, and we said yes.”

Miller then met with the Waverly leadership — Senior Pastor the Rev. Marvin Talamantez— along with the elders and staff and found Open Bible to be the right fit.
