Cookin' for a Cause

State Bank staff and clients of North Star Community Services pose during last year’s “Cookin’ for a Cause” event in Waverly.

State Bank is again planning to hold a series of “Cookin’ for a Cause” events, and is asking for local charities to submit their request applications for an opportunity to be chosen as a recipient. Request applications can be found on the bank’s website, www.statebankia.com, or can be picked up at any bank location prior to the deadline of June 15.

“Cookin’ for a Cause” (CFAC) is an event held at participating State Bank offices in which community members can enjoy lunch with a free-will donation to a selected charity. In turn, the bank will match contributions, up to $500 for each event.

“State Bank is built on a foundation of giving back to the communities that have helped us achieve success,” said Pat Gebel, President & Chief Operating Officer. “As a community-minded, customer-focused bank, we take pride in serving our communities and seek to be actively involved. CFAC was developed for this exact purpose,” Gebel added.

Since its inception in 2012, “Cookin’ for a Cause” events have helped to raise over $54,000 for 27 local charities in the markets State Bank serves. Past charities selected in the Waverly and Janesville markets include Relay for Life of Bremer County, The Smile Big Project, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa, Janesville Veteran’s Memorial, The Larrabee Center, Cedar Valley Hospice, Janesville Wildcat Boosters, Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, The Bremer-Butler Crisis Fund, Janesville Fire & Rescue, Waverly Area Veterans Post, Janesville PTA, North Star Community Services and The American Legion, Post No. 522.

“With the success of previous CFAC events, we are excited to bring it back for another year,” said Kristin Vowell, Marketing Officer at State Bank. “We look forward to going through the submissions after June 15 and hope our local charities will take this opportunity to benefit. This is what is so great about community bankig — having the opportunity to give back and support our local charities that do so much for us!” added Vowell.

Stay tuned for dates of this year’s upcoming “Cookin’ for a Cause” events at State Bank. For more information regarding the event series, please contact Kristin Vowell at (319) 352-6000.
