Arrested for burglaries

Benjamin Schiel, left, and Chad Lindquist, right, face burglary, theft charges

Bremer County authorities arrested one man and issued a warrant for a second on Tuesday following an investigation into a series of burglaries in October between Waverly and Denver.

Benjamin Scheel, 36, of Tripoli, was arrested by Tripoli police and charged with four counts of third-degree burglary, two of which are Class D felonies and two are aggravated misdemeanors. He also faces two counts of third-degree theft, which are aggravated misdemeanors, and two counts of fifth-degree theft, which are simple misdemeanors.

In addition, the Bremer County Sheriff's Office has issued arrest warrants for Chad Lindquist, 46, of North Liberty, for the same charges related to the burglaries. He is currently being held in the Winneshiek County Jail on unrelated charges.

Between Oct. 5 and Oct. 25, deputies had received multiple burglary reports. Several items were taken from multiple vehicles along with two garages in rural areas between Waverly and Denver.

If convicted, Schiel and Lindquist could face a total of 15 years behind bars and up to $28,750 in fines plus surcharges
