A sign display of senior pictures placed along the sidewalk of the high school building celebrates the achievements of Waverly-Shell Rock Class of 2020.

Planted 6 feet apart, as has become the "normal" social distance from others in Covid-19 times, the display shows how adversity unifies us in spirit. Sponsored by local financial institutions, as well as parents and grandparents of students, the signs were produced by Signs and Designs, a Cedar Falls business recently purchased by a Waverly family of entrepreneurs.

The students picked a fitting motto: It is what it is...

But their parents and their community wanted to embraced them and show them how much they are appreciated even though they may not walk across the stage and get a diploma in a traditional ceremony.

"This is one chapter in that journey," says mom Kelly Goeke

"Very proud to be from Waverly right now," chimed in Sally Johnson, also a parent and an organizer.
