Oelwein Daily Register

About Oelwein Daily Register

The Oelwein Register is one of the oldest industries in the community. History has it that Theodore Freer started publishing the Register each Wednesday in 1881.
That means we are in our 132nd year of publishing. It was in 1906 that the Register started publishing on a daily , except Sunday, basis.

For the past 15 years, the newspaper has operated under ownership of Community Media Group, with corporate offices in West Frankfort, Ill. Sister publications include the Independence Bulletin-Journal, the Cedar Valley Times of Vinton, the Waverly Democrat and Bremer County Independent, the Cedar Falls Times, and various advertising publications including the area Shopper’s Reminder.

Today, the Daily Register employs approximately 50 in-house staff and correspondents. In addition, more than 28 carriers deliver the Register and Oelwein Publishing products to area residents in four counties.

Although the Daily Register has faced disaster more than once (two devastating fires, 1955 and 1980, and a tornado, 1968), it has never missed a publication. The dedication, determination and pride at bringing the news to faithful readers for more than a century, continues as a driving force in the Register’s success.

In 2012 the Daily Register added a new digital press to their facility. Now they have the ability to print many different things for area residents and businesses such as auction bills, brochures, menus, programs, calendars, booklets, etc. Please give us a call at 319-283-2144 or e-mail us at digitalodr@gmail.com to give you a quote.
